*Please Note: Made-to-order backpacks ordered after 2/22/25 will no longer have full or partial seam taping like previously offered. We found that, although nice, seam taping does not fully replace the need for a pack liner when keeping important items dry. Seam taping is also expensive to purchase and apply, surprisingly heavier than grosgrain binding, and makes repairs nearly impossible. For these reasons, we are no longer offering it and will pass the savings to customers with a lower starting price.*
Description
17 ounces for a framed pack. After many years of making some of the lightest, most comfortable framed backpacks on the market, we decided to take it to its extreme. We set out to design a pack that even the most die-hard ultralight hiker wouldn’t be ashamed to carry. A framed pack that is truly just as light as most frameless packs. We didn’t want to do it simply by cutting corners either. This led us to the “Jocassee”, a small volume, ultralight framed back that still has all the essential features a backpacker needs on trail.
Features:
-Two carbon fiber frame stays (can be removed for ‘frameless’ mode)
-Integrated 1/8″ foam back panel
-Removable hip belt (Can be removed to save 3 ounces in size medium)
-Top compression strap can be used to restrain externally stored items such as a foam pad or small bear canister
-Detachable elastic ice axe loop and gear loop for securing both the top and bottom of your axe or trekking poles
-Optional durable bottom pouch for easy access to small items (adds approximately 0.5 ounces to overall weight)
-Elastic side compression cordage
-Ultra Stretch side pockets can hold two 1L water bottles
-Oversized, pleated Ultra stretch front pocket for quickly stashing items.
-Modular, replaceable shoulder straps
-Bound seams for strength
