The Jocassee – Framed Backpack (32L) – 3rd Generation

Description

17.5 ounces for a framed pack. After many years of making some of the lightest, most comfortable framed backpacks on the market, we decided to take it to its extreme. We designed a pack that even the most die-hard ultralight hiker wouldn’t be ashamed to carry. A framed pack that is truly just as light as most frameless packs. We didn’t want to do it simply by cutting corners either. This led us to the “Jocassee”, a small volume, ultralight framed backpack with all the essential features a backpacker needs on the trail.

*August 2025 Update – We have updated to 3rd Generation packs – Updates include higher quality fabrics for the back panel and non removal, sewn in shoulder straps for greater durability.

Features:
-Two carbon fiber frame stays (can be removed for ‘frameless’ mode)
-Integrated 1/8″ foam back panel
-Removable hip belt (Can be removed to save 3 ounces in size medium)
-Top compression strap can be used to restrain externally stored items such as a foam pad or a small bear canister
-Detachable elastic ice axe loop and gear loop for securing both the top and bottom of your axe or trekking poles
-Optional durable bottom pouch for easy access to small items (adds approximately 0.5 ounces to overall weight)
-Elastic side compression cordage
-Ultra Stretch side pockets can hold two 1L water bottles
-Oversized, pleated Ultra stretch front pocket for quickly stashing items.
-Bound seams for strength

Shoulder straps and hip belt: Ultra Grid, 3/8″ foam, and 3mm Spacer mesh

-32L internal, 7L external capacity
– 32″ circumference, 34″ overall height when unrolled
– Approx. 17-18 ounces, including frame and medium hip belt, additional pockets/accessories, or large sizing will increase weight. Weight is approximate
-25 LB comfort carry capacity, 30 LB maximum load

Sizing:
Small Torso: 16-18″
Medium Torso: 18-20″
Large Torso 21-22″
